Met up with sis T, sis M, Z, C and S for dinner at Ippudo! Surprisingly there was no queue when we reached at 7pm. I think the crowd only comes after 7.30pm.

Food 6/10 (a tad salty for miso based soup)
Ambience 5/10 (small place, a lil’ noisy)

Ramen Play @ Nex

This is my second time at Ramen Play and I was enticed by the gigantic “Sanpou Ramen” poster right smack at the entrance.

Looks good right?!

Sanpou Ramen in Shoyu
Price: S$13.80++

I had the one in Shoyu (soy sauce broth) while K had the one in Tonkatsu (pork broth). K’s wins hands down! Thick, fragrant & delicious. Comes with generous amount of pork & noodles, topped with half an egg.

P wasn’t so lucky cos she ordered the spicy version and the chili oil separates from the soup. It wasn’t the tasty, shiok spicy, but rather a burns-your-lips-mala spicy. Poor girl.

Food: 6/10
Ambience: 4/10 (like food court, noisy & squeezy)
Value: 6/10
Service: 7/10

Boyf and I wanted to indulge in a good atas meal once in a while so today we picked Itacho Sushi! Surprisingly the food was excellent yet affordable! 😀 Will definitely go back again!

Ordered a Kasuga Set to share. Even though it’s stated for 1 person, the food looks enough for 2! Or at least enough for a guy and a girl. It was S$26++ and here is what it includes:

Tomato Salad; Light and refreshing, I like the slightly sour dressing. I think it’s thousand island.

Deep Fried Pamela Chicken; Yums like popcorn chicken!

Steamed Egg with Salmon Roe; I usually love chawanmushi (Japanese steamed egg) but this one wasn’t that good. Probably because I didn’t like the taste of roe. It left a bitter aftertaste.

Sweet Shrimp Cream Soup; Mmmm, I love creamy soup! Couldn’t taste the sweet shrimp though. There was a bit of glutinous rice and some seaweed.

Mini Chirashi (Salmon, Scallop, Salmon Roe, Crab Meat, Seabass, Roasted Egg, Sweet Shrimp, Squid, Flying Fish Roe); Good things come in pairs. Haha so glad all the pieces come in 2 pieces so we could have 1 each. So much seafood definitely makes this set worth the price!

Milk Pudding was out of stock so they changed to ice-cream instead. Dumb dumb us totally forgot about dessert until we were on our way home. Haha. Guess we were too stuffed to remember anything.

Other than the set, we also ordered:

Baked Stuffed Crab
Price: S$6.00

This is AMAZING crazy nice omg! Came piping hot and the crab meat is soooo delish! *salivates* All of you should try this when you are there.

Cold Udon; Price: S$4.20
Cod Liver & Scallop Sushi; Price: S$2.80
Zaru Shell Sushi; Price: S$1.50
Grilled Pork Sushi; Price: S$1.00

The boyf almost cried out “oishiiiii!” when he ate this. Hahaha no joke it was THAT good. I liked it but not as much as my fav baked stuffed crab.

Definitely one of the best sushi places I’ve been to!

Total bill: $42.70 + 10% + 7% = $50.25

Food: 8/10
Ambience: 6/10 (tables were very close to one another)
Value: 7/10
Service: 6/10

Address: 68 Orchard Road, #02-35 Plaza Singapura, Singapore

Treated my ex-colleague to dinner just after I got my first pay cheque. Heh. She’s a fan of Japanese food so we opted for Sushi Tei.

There weren’t a lot of people at 7.30PM on a weekday, probably because of the recent Japan disaster that led many to avoid eating Japanese food. I believe there must have been stringent checks in place so I guess it was safe. Just for two ladies, I must say we ordered quite a spread. I’ve classified them broadly into the “must order”, “average”, and “blah”. So you know what to do (;

Towels at 20cents each.

Apricot Juice for her and hot green tea (free) for me.
Price: $3.60++

Hotate Teriyaki – Must Order!
Price: $6.00++
Drenched in awesome teriyaki sauce, the scallops came piping hot!

Salmon Mentaiyaki – Must Order!
Price: $12.00++

Agedashi Tofu – Average!
Price: $5.00++

Umaki – Average!
Price: $6.50++
Everything tastes damn good when served piping hot, same goes for this. But I think the omelette (tamago) was a little too thick and taste was bland, sort of covering the goodness of the eel (unagi).

Salmon Sashimi – Average!
Price: $8.00++
Sashimi was pretty fresh but I’m not a fan so I can’t comment much. R says it was a tad too thick though.

Fried Oyster Sushi – Average!
Price: $4.80++

Green plate
Price: $4.10++

Pink plate
Price: $3.50++

Total bill: $53.90 + 10% + 7% = $63.44

The folks behind Bread Talk opened a ramen place and I was hesitant because what does ramen and bread got to do with each other? Anyway, sis Meh said it was good so I had to listen to her. Indeed it did not disappoint!

Value combo’s Mini Tonkotsu Ramen.

We also ordered a vege roll and chicken salad to share.

Overall, it was a good dining experience. The waiter was friendly (even offered to take pics for us), the food was served fast, and pretty affordable!

Met my girlfs for a quick simple dinner at Bedok Point. We heard there’s lots of food places at this mall, hence decided to give it a try. But instead of stepping into a new restaurant, we decided on the good old Sushi Tei. Hahaha probably will give other shops a chance next time!

Sukiyaki
Price: S$15.00

Ten Chasoba
Price: S$12.00

Yosenabe
Price: S$12.00
No pictures for this because I was famished!

Total bill: S$39.80 – 10% (member’s discount) + 10% + 7% = S$42.16

Sisters decided to have steamboat at Sukiya for Christmas gathering this year. Recommended by sis N ‘cos she loves the beef here.

You can choose between Beef, Pork, or Chicken. Since we had 4 pax, we ordered a set of each first. Sliced meat for shabu shabu. Awesome! And I must comment that the beef here is good! (:

As usual, there’s always half a pot of spicy soup, another half non-spicy. After all the meat and veggie, each person was also allowed one serving of soft serve ice-cream. I don’t particularly like it cos the ice-cream melts really quickly and tastes like diluted Milo. Yucks.

Paid about $25.50 per pax.

All the restaurant at Ion Orchard had long queues, so we settled for this (which has the shortest queue).

You can choose between teppenyaki or shabu-shabu. Having already had steamboat the day before, I opted for Chicken Teppenyaki ($10.90).

Perhaps I was famished so the sizzling meat on hotplate was really appealing to me. All teppanyaki comes with miso soup, salad, and rice. I ordered an additional drink. Sorry I can’t remember the total bill cos this was a treat from one of my ex-colleagues.

Met up with my girlfs for a quick dinner at Manpuku. I had the impression that the $6.50 deals were still on but apparently they up the prices of some dishes. Nevertheless it was still a satisfying meal, other than the fact that the air-con was wayyyyy too cold! 😦

Shoyu Ramen ($6.50)

Fried Noodles with Pork ($6.50)

Seafood Oko ($9.00)

Food 6/10 (good food but the AC makes food go cold quickly)
Ambience 6/10 (nice quiet place but cold AC!!)
Value 7/10 (no GST or service charge)
Service nil

My second time at Ippudo, and this time with boyf’s friends. We were out doing Christmas shopping, thus was late for dinner. Thankfully the guys were already queuing so by the time we reached, they were already at the front of the queue. Heh heh.

Waiting in line is always a horror.

This was a new dish (it’s right at the first page of the menu but I forgot the name). Comes with pork belly and the soup was really creamy. Love it!

I had this which was made of fish broth. I think the name was Bonito-something? Urgh, getting old. We think it was ok.

This was what I had previously. So needs no introduction.

The guys decided to order Beef Cubes. It costs $13.00 so we’d expected it to be a generous serving but look what came -.- There was barely enough to go around. Gotta admit that it tasted great but seriously not worth the price.

Food 6/10
Ambience 5/10 (small place, a lil’ noisy)
Value 4/10 (too pricey)
