Met up with sisters for dinner at Paradise Inn as recommended by N. This is part of the Paradise Group that includes Paradise Dynasty too! True enough, the food lived up to it’s expectations. But the waiting time was a killer. Don’t ever try to go there on an empty stomach /:

While waiting for N to arrive, we ordered an “appetizer” to temporarily fill our tummies.

Fried Hor Fun with Venison – Small
Price: S$12.00++

I like how the beansprouts were crunchy and the venison (deer meat) was tender. It looked like it would be hard and tough but the meat just melts in your mouth at the first bite! Thumbs up!

Upon sis N’s arrival, we went on to order more dishes. Enjoy!

Hot Plate Tofu – Small (Must Order!)
Price: S$10.00++

Tofu and omelette on a sizzling hot pan, what’s not to love about this dish? There were also bits of cai xin (the canned ones) and minced meat that comes together. Note that dish is a little spicy though.

Sweet and Sour Pork – Small
Price: S$12.00++

You can never really go wrong with gou lok yok; I’ve never tasted lousy ones. They were either average or good!

Chinese Spinach and Egg Trio – Small
Price: S$14.00++

I think it’s a tad overpriced cos it’s just vegetables and eggs but I like how they give a lot of eggs. Super love century egg and salted egg so this is my kinda dish!

Mango Sago
Price: S$3.80++

Looks can be deceiving. The pictures hanging all over the interior were desserts pictures so we thought this place must sell really good desserts. But we were so wrong. The mango sago is pathetically small, and bland. My suggestion is – have your desserts elsewhere.

Other charges include: homemade barley (S$2.00++ each), steamed rice (S$0.60++ each), peanuts (S$1.50++ each), towels (S$0.30++ each).

Total bill: $62.30 + 10% + 7% = $73.35

The folks behind Bread Talk opened a ramen place and I was hesitant because what does ramen and bread got to do with each other? Anyway, sis Meh said it was good so I had to listen to her. Indeed it did not disappoint!

Value combo’s Mini Tonkotsu Ramen.

We also ordered a vege roll and chicken salad to share.

Overall, it was a good dining experience. The waiter was friendly (even offered to take pics for us), the food was served fast, and pretty affordable!

Sis and I decided to try the waffles displayed prominently at the entrance of Marvelous Cream, and we were deeply disappointed.

There were so many delightful flavours and they sure looked good. We settled on Caramel Chocolate n Hazelnuts Caramelized, and Champagne Flavoured White Peach n Raspberry Gelee. Both were disgusting.

The waffles (we expected to be cripsy) were hard and thick. Like eating stale bread. Plus it was tasteless. The inside (we expected to be ice-cream) turned out to be fresh/whipped (?) cream with soft fruit bits. Absolutely horrible and I will never eat this again!
